Sales University, Direct Sales / Network Marketing Leadership Development

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the DSU also cover Network Marketing and MLM?
In general terms, absolutely. Network Marketing or MLM is part of the Direct Sales industry. In fact, MLM compensation plans are used by 95% of all Direct Sales companies.

We have used the term ‘Direct Sales’ because this is the correct industry term. It is also the clearest and most credible term.

The reality is that we expect more than 95% of our students to be working a MLM compensation plan as the MLM plan is proven to be the most powerful at creating leaders. Even Avon uses an MLM plan now.

The challenge with the terms MLM and Network Marketing is that they are confusing to most people and often have a poor reputation due to the unfulfilled promises made. The concerns of ‘Direct Sales’ made by some leaders are valid as some people associate this term with door-knocking and low economic or unattractive business YET this public perception is changing [mainly due to cool companies like DELL using Direct Sales’] and DSU intends to train the NEXT GENERATION of Direct Sales leaders.
